A close friend (Florence Gettliffe) and I
opened a women's health center high in the Andes in a town named Huancayo.
Women are taught good nutrition and coached in appropriate prenatal exercise from early on
in their pregnancies.
Husbands are included and made a part of the whole process. As a result, families
are getting off to a better start. YOU can make a difference, too, one kind act at a time.

Lightning Learner
This is the most recent cool program I'm writing, and it's taking on a life of its own.
It started out as a memorization tool. It can help almost anyone (even
those somewhat brain damaged) to memorize facts more quickly,
and retain them better. It then evolved to
include conceptual learning as well. I'm hoping it can be used for "Bulk Learning", freeing up teachers
to work on the more conceptually difficult material.
One possibility I envision is this tool being used by students for an hour each school day
for supervised independent study.
It feeds information to you only at your own absorption speed, and reinforces what YOU need to learn.
So soon there's really going to be a tool to help ensure "No child is left behind."
Hurricane Energy
Yes, I'm the Bill Van Horne promoting this initiative if you've found me from the web. I took a couple of
months off from Lightning Learner to get the ball rolling on this. I envisioned this in 2006 and
and have been mulling and writing the first draft of the details since then. I obtained a B.S. in Physics from
Ga. Tech. in 1984, and I've always loved learning about alternative energies and the weaknesses and
strengths of each one. I'm having trouble finding a weakness with Hurricane Energy.
Famine Relief Ecology Publicizing this
concept will be my next undertaking after getting Lightning Learner standing on its own two feet.
I believe that if enough interest can be raised, we can really end
much of the problem of famine due to interrupted agriculture. With the help of our microscopic
allies, we CAN END this type of famine.

Personal News... I married a Peruvian woman in May 2009, and have moved back
